Enrichmond is the local non-profit that helps the City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community get stuff done. The most obvious way they do this is through big events/festivals at the 17th Street Market. What’s not so  obvious is the everyday work encouraging citizen involvement, or in the case of today direct action fundraising for their 10th anniversary Send a Kid to Camp!

Join the Enrichmond Foundation, IPowerRichmond, 99.3/105.7 KISS FM, and Praise 104.7 FM for the 10th anniversary of Send a Kid to Camp! This radiothon raises money to provide scholarships to City of Richmond children to attend one of our summer camps.

How to donate:
– Tune into IPower Richmond, KISS FM, and Praise 104.7, you can make your pledge on-air and request your favorite tune
– Make your donation on Send a Kid to Camp’s Enrichmond link
– Send your check to the Enrichmond office, make the check out to Enrichmond with Send a Kid to Camp in the memo line

By far the easiest way to donate is to hit that Send a Kid to Camp! link above. There is an easy to see box that’ll allow you to donate.

Send-A-Kid to Camp allows for local at-risk youth to experience a real summer camp experience.

Children enrolled in the camp are immersed in fun activities each day that includes art and cultural enrichment, health and physical education, science and environmental education, and personal and social development as well as field trips. The cost for eight-to-nine weeks of camp range from $250 to $350. Donations from the annual radiothon are used to provide scholarships for those who need them. It is part of the department’s promise to make the camp available to and affordable for all children in the city of Richmond.

If you’ve been on the Enrichmond site before you’ll notice that they’ve spruced things up a bit with a brand new site.

One of the most exciting parts of the new site is Partners. Partners is your go-to spot to link up with all the organizations that work with Enrichmond, find out what’s going on and directly support their efforts. If you think the neighborhood needs more trees check out, Adopt-a-Tree. Want to see more community gardens in Richmond? Then you need to head over to Friends of Community Gardens. No matter your interest in improving Richmond there is somebody out there doing it or knows somebody that is and Enrichmond is a great place to start.

The other spot you’ll want to check out is the Volunteer page. Money doesn’t grow on trees so if you can’t make a cash donation but you can help plant trees or find the other perfect project that could use a little of your sweat equity. Getting started is as easy as filling out a form.
