ROSIE CONNOLLY’S BLOCK PARTY

I pretty much avoid all the big St. Patrick’s Day festivities as they tend to be large crowds of really drunk people that I don’t know. If I’m going to surround myself with drunks I want it to be drunks I know. So it’s important to know the smaller more focused celebrations. On Saturday one of the those smaller events is taking place at Rosie Connolly’s.

It’s that time of year again!
Join us Saturday March 11, 2017 for our Rosies block party.
Dancing by The Baffa Academy of Irish Dance
Pipes and drums By The Metro Richmond Police Emerald Society
Music by The Sutor Brothers and other Rosies favorites
Guinness and Jameson served inside and out at our two bars.
Traditional food and drink served all day and nite.
Everyone’s favorite bartender Tommy will be back behind the main bar!

COOLER WEDDING RECEPTION THAN YOURS

Most wedding receptions are fairly stodgy affairs at least until Uncle Eddie gets knee deep into the open bar. One couple avoided the obvious and went with the strange by having their reception at Strangeways Brewing. But there is more to this reception than it’s unique location.

The bride and groom, Kristen and Brandon pushed up push up their October wedding so the bride’s little brother Beckett could be a part of the celebration. Beckett was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ewings Sarcoma 8 months ago. To learn more about Beckett and his family, please visit https://www.gofundme.com/29tytfdw

GROWLERS BY BIKE

Sometimes a six pack isn’t what you want. You want a fresh beer straight off the brewery’s teat. You want a growler. For whatever reason you’re also too lazy to go get it yourself. Richmond BizSense has the details on Quickness RVA who will pedal a growler of beer or up to eight from Growler to Go to your waiting maw. Cost will vary with the price of the beer. Currently the most expensive beer available is the Cigar City Jai Alai White Oak-23 at $41 for 64 oz and the cheapest being RJ Rockers Peachy King-31 at $13 for 64 oz.

More from Richmond BizSense:

“Any time there’s a new type of item to be delivered, it’s fun,” Izen said. “We take it as a challenge.”

Virginia ABC regulations require Quickness and Growlers to Go to have a contract that designates Quickness as an agent of Growlers to Go, and recipients of legal age are required to provide ID and a signature at the point of delivery.

BEER RELEASE AND BBQ

I feel our relationship has grown enough over the past few months that I can be totally honest with you. I’m not going to Ardent for what I’m sure will be another fine beer. I’m going for the food and the return of ZZQ. Technically the official return of ZZQ was last weekend but somehow I missed that so I’m going to make sure I get some this weekend. Word to the wise if you want the barbecue get there early and ready to wait in line. It sold out pretty quick last weekend. If you miss out don’t worry there is plenty of beer to drown your meat sorrows.

From the Ardent Facebook Event:

Join us for two exciting releases: Chardonnay Brett Saison, and Chardonnay Brett Saison with Apricot! Aged in barrels from New Kent Winery. More details coming soon!

ZZQ and Bikini Panini will be here, so we hope you’ll come enjoy great food and two fun new beers!
