Richmond Flying Squirrels reveal jam-packed 2017 promotional schedule
Expect lots of free T-shirts, fireworks, and a record number of giveaways this season.
The Richmond Flying Squirrels unveiled a full roster of fun for their upcoming season at a press event last Friday at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
The schedule boasts a record 36 giveaway items, including 11 Free Shirt Fridays, with each shirt designed by local artist Robert Ullman. Free Shirt Friday and Happy Hours headline the Flying Squirrels eventful “Seven Days of Squirrels” daily promotions.
New for the 2017 season is Tip of the Cap Tuesdays. Each Tuesday home game (excluding July 4th), will feature distinctive hat giveaway items including newsboy hats (May 23rd), fedoras (July 25th), and straw trucker caps (August 29th). There will be nine cap giveaways throughout the year.
Brunch throughout the ballpark and Kids Club giveaways return each Sunday, with an added bonus of special mascot and character appearances on select dates. Sunday kids-themed giveaways include yellow super hero capes as part of ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation day (May 7th), waffle jerseys (June 4th), and Nutzy and Nutasha collectable plush toys (June 25th and July 30th).
Four legged friends, who are welcome at the Diamond every Monday for Bark In The Park, will also receive some fun canine giveaways throughout the season.
The promotional schedule also features 23 fireworks shows throughout the season. Thursday night Fireworks, presented by Your Southern Virginia Ford Dealers and Saturday night shows will vary in styles between what the team describes as “In-Your-Face Fireworks” (close proximity) and “Super Blast Fireworks” (over the outfield wall).
Single game tickets for the 2017 season will go on sale Saturday, March 4th from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM during Nutzy’s Block Party at The Diamond.
“Every year we strive to give our fans the best and most entertaining experience possible,” Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell said in a news release. “We feel like this is our most exciting promotional schedule ever. Our staff has worked tirelessly all winter long, and the season can’t get here fast enough.”
