Snow caps meet swim caps at this weekend’s Polar Plunge at Willow Lawn
Take a dip into the icy water this Saturday to support the programs of Special Olympics, and come laugh at our Editor Trevor as he takes the plunge!
If you see nearly 200 people jumping into an ice cold pool of water this weekend at Willow Lawn, don’t be alarmed. RVA Polar Plunge Fest is taking place at the shopping center Saturday afternoon, and it’s all for a great cause. A fundraiser for Special Olympics Virginia, RVA Polar Plunge Fest will take place at the center just outside Duck Donuts.
For just $100, you can take an icy dip into the pool to support the athletes of Special Olympics and the organization’s other programs. If you haven’t already signed up as an individual or joined a team, it’s not too late. You can register online right now, or even in person right up until the event starts at noon on Saturday.
Come dressed in your most outrageous costume for a shot at prizes, enjoy face painting, games, vendors, and more. The festival itself–and the spectacular people watching involved with witnessing folks jump into the water–is free to attend.
We’re proud to sponsor this year’s festival, and if you need another reason to be there, you can come laugh at–I mean support–our Editor Trevor Dickerson, as he takes the plunge shortly after 2:00 PM.
