Kroger makes $52,000 donation to support FeedMore programs, feed hungry
The check presentation was made this week at the grocer’s Carytown location.
Richmond area grocery store Kroger regularly partners with local food bank FeedMore to bring food to people in need, and Carytown Kroger store manager Shawn Embrose carried that out this week by presenting FeedMore with a check for $52,277.
That donation translates to more than 209,000 meals for families in need and was raised from a number of Kroger programs created to eliminate hunger. Those programs range from the store’s national campaign Bringing Hope to the Table and a locally organized golf tournament known as the Peanut Butter Open.
“We have the ability to help the hungry and see it as our responsibility to do our part in the communities we serve,” said Allison McGee, spokesperson for Kroger Mid-Atlantic. “FeedMore’s programs help so many individuals and families in Central Virginia and we’re fortunate to have them advocating for and helping some of the region’s most vulnerable. We’ll remain committed to this cause and working with our partners at FeedMore.”
