Harvey family murderer Ricky Gray set to be executed tonight
Gov. Terry McAuliffe declinced to grant clemency on Tuesday.
In January of 2006, Richmond was shocked to learn of the murder of seven individuals by Ricky Gray and Ray Dandridge. Among the victims were the local Harvey family. Bryan, Kathryn, Stella, and Ruby. The Harveys were well known and loved in the community and their loss is still felt today.
AT 9 PM tonight Ricky Gray will pay the ultimate price for his crimes and die by lethal injection. His lawyers have filed an emergency stay of execution with the Supreme Court after failing to receive clemency from Governor Terry McAuliffe.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who had been asked to commute Gray’s death sentence to life without parole, declined to grant clemency Tuesday.
“It is the governor’s responsibility to ensure that the laws of the commonwealth are properly carried out unless circumstances merit a stay or commutation of the sentence. After extensive review and deliberation, I have found no such circumstances. I will continue to pray for all of the individuals and families affected by these tragic and horrible crimes,” McAuliffe said in a statement.
