RVA Beer Explorer

RVA Beer Explorer: Strangely Free, Wreath, Ballast Takeover, Stout & Crafty, Triple Fulton Cans,

Strangeways hands down has the best swag. They have what seems like 100’s of shirts many with monkeys on them so it’s a double win, patches, hats and more. All the items are priced reasonably but you know what is better than reasonable? Free that’s what.

December 1st is the official start day of The Strangeways 12 Days of Christmas. For 12 magical days between today and the 25th, we’ll be giving away choice gifts to 12 lucky recipients from our shop. Just like, share, or comment (all 3 for better chances) on each post for a chance to win!

Because I love you guys that link at the beginning of this literary masterpiece takes you to their Facebook so you can win free stuff.

This is happening next Wednesday but since you need to sign-up I thought it was best to run it this week. Your Mom loved all the Christmas decor you made as a child. Image how happy she’d be if you brought her something that was actually nice looking that you made yourself. That you made while you were drinking beer. That you made while drinking beer and not stepping foot in a mall a week before Christmas. I know you haven’t figured out what to give her so go here and sign up.

Lovers of Ballast Point beer take note. Carytown’s Burger Bach is hosting a Ballast Point take over this Friday. No Grapefruit Sculpin which makes me sad.

This is the first milk stout we’ve made. In fact, it’s the first sweet stout we’ve made—a definite departure from our Dark Rye. For the variants, Steve researched spices and ingredients from around the world (cendol, anyone?) and experimented until we found something scalable, sourceable, and, of course, delicious.

Our imperial milk stout is sweet, chocolaty, and a little sticky, but with enough roast presence to remind you that it’s definitely a beer, not liquid candy. We’ll also be releasing a Mexican hot chocolate imperial milk stout (and maybe one more variant that we’re still perfecting) and a few fun pins with more experimental adjuncts.

River City Wood Fire Pizza and River City Kettle Corn will be here, and we’ll also be holding our third annual Beer Craft Market featuring local crafters and makers. Come enjoy some beer, grab some food, and do a little holiday shopping!

The folks at Triple Crossing keep dropping hints on an opening for their massive and looks to be massively cool Fulton brewery location. Nothing official yet but I’m putting money on December 10th. Keep and eye on their Facebook and hopefully they’ll let us all know soon. One of the hints they keep referring to coincides with the release of 16oz cans (see below) being available on the 10th. Anybody that has been into their spot of Foushee knows that it’s too small for a serious canning operation. The Fulton spot is massive and perfect for a larger canning line so hopefully that means my prediction above has a bit of merit.
