Richmond Magazine has details on Charm School ice cream shop opening this weekend
Broad Street is becoming a destination spot for food between all the new restaurants, chocolate shop, and now ice cream.
Details from Richmond Magazine:
Jackson Ward’s newest venture is high on charm. With fanciful flavors, pastries, vegan sweets and a soundtrack on vinyl, Charm School — the new gourmet ice cream shop and bakery at 311 W. Broad St. — is set to open this weekend in the former Quirk Gallery space.
“We want it to be a destination and a meeting place, and that doesn’t really happen in ice cream shops,” says baker and co-owner Meryl Hillerson. “You get it in bakeries sometimes; you get it in restaurants, definitely. But ice cream often feels dumbed-down, and we didn’t want to do that; we wanted to create a space we would want to go if we didn’t own it.”
Just as there can’t be too many taco trucks in the world there can’t be too many ice cream shops. It’s simple science, ice cream is awesome, homemade ice cream is awesomer. To learn more and keep track of all the details like Charm School on Facebook.
