Coyotes in the news and a public meeting next week
There is a meeting scheduled for Wednesday October 26th, to discuss the local coyote population.
Greg and Nicole Montalto are the proud owners of four dogs. One is named Odd and he was one of the dogs fending off (through barking) the coyote. It is also worth mentioning how awesome that name is for a bulldog. They all live in Woodland Heights and enjoy being close to nature. A bit of that nature with teeth came visiting the edge of the yard and was scared off.
Greg Montalto says his wife was shocked to see a coyote standing right outside of their fence a few weeks ago. When their four dogs started barking
early in the morning, they knew something wasn’t right.“They were both standing there and the coyote did not stand down so finally the big brown dog kind of charged at him and the coyote ran off,” Montalto explained.
The video above also talks with Kristy Pavlica who has chickens. Chickens aren’t as good as dogs at scaring off predators so naturally Kristy is concerned.
There have been enough sightings of the coyotes that local and state officials are holding a meeting next weekend to discuss the critters.
