If someone that supports another USL team tells me that the Kickers don’t have a chance I’ll rattle off facts, half-truths, and outright lies to list why and how they can win the USL Cup. Amongst other Kickers fans I’m the Harbinger of Doom in Red. This isn’t the time for negativity, instead will go with relative objectivity and this USL official playoff preview of all the Eastern Teams.

The Richmond Kickers have been a staple to advance to the USL Cup Playoffs. They have done so now for six consecutive USL seasons. Richmond’s 2016 campaign has had some swings to it, though. On the positive side, the Kickers made a significant move up the table thanks to a six-game winning streak from July through early August. On the flip side, Richmond has hobbled a tad since clinching a postseason berth and will need to regain the form it demonstrated during the dog days of summer.

If you’d liked to take a closer look at the Sunday matchup read the preview from the USL.

My optimistic side says that Richmond squeaks by in extra time after 0-0 game. That should give you a clue as to how the Harbinger of Doom in Red is feeling. Kickers have been ice cold on offense as of late and making too many mistakes on basic set pieces for me to put my cloak completely away.
