Kickers face long-time foe Charleston in season finale

It’s the last game of the season and without a win a home playoff game is unlikely.

You’ll have to wait a second to hear about the game that is taking place on Saturday while I get something off my chest. This best Wednesday a crime took place in City Stadium. A band of three green miscreants blatantly and willfully stole 3 points from the Richmond Kickers. Two goals were called back for the wrong reasons and as a result the Kickers had to settle for a tie. A logical man would argue that the bad calls balance out and that it’s part of the game but I’ve never been called a logical man. Read the official wrap up of that game.

As I put the rant soapbox away it’s time to focus on Saturday. Three important things to know about this game:

  • Early kickoff of 5 PM.
  • The game is now truly the most must win, a game can be if there is to be a playoff game in RVA.
  • Fans wearing red will get a beer (or lemonade) for free. Yes free beer.
  • Kickers broke their regular season attendance record for the third consecutive year.  If 5,650 fans show up Saturday, they’ll hit a respectable 4,000 per game average.

As you can see from the standings the two teams are ridiculously evenly matched with Charleston having a slightly more porous defense. The top eight teams are in the playoffs. The top four get to host their playoff games.

The first 300 fans to order a ticket for $15 will get a ticket and the snazzy RVA is RED shirt. If you put on that snazzy red shirt you’ll get a very beverage courtesy of the Kickers so really $15 gets you shirt, ticket and beer. That’s awesome. Buy your ticket now.
