Tickets are on sale now for The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse from the Dallas Museum of Art, which opens at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday, Nov. 14, and runs through April 4, 2027.

The exhibition follows Impressionism from its start in 1874 into the early 20th century. It includes work by core members such as Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Berthe Morisot, along with the artists who came after and reacted to them, including Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, Piet Mondrian and Henri Matisse. Paintings by Mary Cassatt, Paul Cézanne, Édouard Manet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Paul Signac are also part of the show.

What tickets cost

Talks, cupcakes and a conference

Programs start two days before the opening

Dr. Nicole R. Myers, the Dallas Museum of Art curator who organized the exhibition, will give an opening talk on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8, or $5 for members.

On opening day, Nov. 14, from noon to 4 p.m., VMFA will mark what would have been Monet’s 186th birthday with free cupcakes from Whisk, music from DJ Monea and a group art project. The birthday event is free, and no tickets are needed.

On Jan. 29 and 30, 2027, the museum will host Reconsidering Impressionism, a two-day public conference with art historians. Dr. Michael Marrinan, professor emeritus of art history at Stanford University, will give the keynote. Keynote tickets are $8, $5 for members and free for students. The other lectures and panels are free.

VMFA’s presentation is coordinated by curators Dr. Sylvain Cordier and Dr. Theresa A. Cunningham and presented by Altria.

Tickets are available at vmfa.museum.
