Three Things to Kick About
- The Basement – The Kickers sit in last place in League 1. Managing only 5 wins out of 23 games. There are 9 games left. The odds of getting into the playoffs are extremely slim.
- New Signing – From the press release: The Richmond Kickers have signed promising defender Greyson Codjoe to a USL Academy contract for the remainder of the 2026 season, the club announced Thursday. The addition further reinforces the club’s commitment to developing youth players and keeping local talent in Richmond.Greyson is 16 years old and has had an impressive stint with Colorado Rapids Academy in 2025 and at the Generation adidas Cup. He is listed as a 6’4″ defender and it will interesting to see if he takes the field.
- What’s Next – The majority of the teams the Kickers face on this last stretch of the season are also below the playoff line. Two notable exceptions are Chattanooga on Saturday and top of the table Charlotte the following Saturday. A result even a tie against Chattanooga will give a glimer of hope.
Prediction
Doom and gloom. Chattanooga has always been the Kickers kryptonite. Even when the Kickers are playing great the Red Wolves always seem to find a way to make life miserable for the Kickers. Nothing going on with either team changes my expectations. The single biggest factor is the Kickers need to score first. In the 11 (I think) games the Kickers have gone down a goal they have not come back to win or tie. Not once. Chattanooga is 3rd in goals scored with 44 while the Kickers have less than half of that with 21.
Chattanooga – 3
Kickers – 1
