Victim Identified in Semmes Avenue Death Investigation

At approximately 2:43 a.m., Saturday, August 15, officers were called to an apartment building located in the 800 block of Semmes Avenue for the report of a shooting.

Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in the fatal shooting that occurred on Semmes Avenue as Deon Day, 33, of Richmond.

At approximately 2:43 a.m., Saturday, August 15, officers were called to an apartment building located in the 800 block of Semmes Avenue for the report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Day, down and unresponsive in a stairwell. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This investigation is ongoing.
