The Psychedelic Furs and Living Colour to headline Groovin’ in the Garden in August

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s 2026 concert season just got a serious upgrade. The Psychedelic Furs, the British post-punk outfit behind “Love My Way” and “Pretty in Pink,” will headline the Cochrane Rose Garden on August 25, with Living Colour opening the night.

The show is part of the Groovin’ in the Garden series, presented by Capital One and produced by Broadberry Entertainment Group in partnership with Bowery Presents and Lewis Ginter. Gates open at 6 p.m., music starts at 7. WNRN and Plan 9 Music are co-presenting.

Four decades of post-punk romance

The Furs emerged from the UK post-punk scene in the late ’70s, fronted by vocalist Richard Butler and his brother Tim on bass. They became fixtures of college and alternative radio with a string of hits including “Love My Way,” “Pretty in Pink,” “Heaven,” “The Ghost in You,” and “Heartbreak Beat.” Their sound has always lived in that strange territory where raw edges meet genuine romanticism, and four decades on, that tension still works.

They’ve also built a reputation as a formidable live act, with headlining slots at Glastonbury, the Hollywood Bowl, Royal Albert Hall, Radio City Music Hall, and the Grand Ole Opry on their résumé. They tour consistently and tend to draw a devoted crowd wherever they play.

Living Colour, the New York band best known for “Cult of Personality,” brings their own legacy to the bill. Vernon Reid’s guitar work and Corey Glover’s vocals helped reshape what hard rock could sound like in the late ’80s, and the band remains a powerful live presence.

A few things to know before you go: the show happens in the Cochrane Rose Garden, food and drink will be available on-site, and outside food and beverages aren’t allowed. Blankets, tents, and canopies are prohibited. Bags must be clear and no larger than 16″ x 16″ x 8″. The concert runs rain or shine with no refunds, and organizers are encouraging attendees to carpool or rideshare.

The Furs and Living Colour join an already busy summer at Lewis Ginter. Everclear kicks things off on June 17, followed by Straight No Chaser on July 9. An evening with Band of Horses and Dinosaur Jr. on July 14 is already sold out. Jesse Welles plays July 29 with Steph Strings, Rumours ATL brings their Fleetwood Mac tribute on July 30, and Graham Nash performs July 31.
