“United We Stand” March and Rally for Voter Empowerment and Justice

The Richmond Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), in  partnership with more than fourteen Richmond-area civic and social justice organizations, proudly  announces the “United We Stand” March and Rally to be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in  Richmond, Virginia. 

The march will begin at 3:00 PM at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, proceeding across the  Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Bridge to City Hall, and continuing to the Bell Tower on the Virginia  State Capitol Grounds, where the rally will take place from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. 

This powerful community event will bring together civic organizations, faith leaders, church groups,  and citizens from all walks of life united in the cause of voting rights, justice, fairness, and equality for  all people. The rally will feature songs of the struggle, stirring messages from distinguished leaders in  the faith and civil rights communities, and a renewed call for civic engagement and voter participation  throughout the Commonwealth. 

Highlighting this historic gathering will be a special performance of “We Shall Overcome” led by the  legendary Queen Esther Marrow, renowned vocalist formerly with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, who  performed with Mahalia Jackson and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement of  the 1960s. 

The Richmond SCLC and its partners invite the entire community to participate in this peaceful,  unifying event that celebrates the enduring struggle for equality and the power of collective action. The  March will begin promptly at 3:00, the rally will begin promptly at 4:00pm and will conclude at 5:00  PM.
