The Weinstein JCC will open its doors to the Richmond community on Sunday, October 19 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. for Celebrate the J!, a free family-friendly celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of an $11.6 million capital campaign and major facility renovations.

The milestone event will take place at the center’s campus at 5403 Monument Avenue and feature a brief speaker program followed by an open house and celebration. The renovations are part of the “Building a Bright Future Together” capital campaign, which has modernized the center’s physical spaces to better serve members and the broader community.

“We’ve always been more than a fitness center,” said Brad Finkel, CEO of the Weinstein JCC. “This celebration is about recognizing our past, embracing the present, and stepping confidently into the future—together.”

Ribbon cutting and speaker lineup

The event will begin with a short ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from:

  • Brad Finkel, CEO of the Weinstein JCC

  • Stuart Simon, Board President

  • Richard November, Past Board President (1976–78)

The main celebration begins immediately after, with opportunities to explore the renovated facilities either on guided or self-led tours. Updates include a modernized preschool and afterschool wing, state-of-the-art fitness center, upgraded aquatic center, gymnasium, auditorium, art gallery, and community meeting spaces.
