The 65th annual Armenian Food Festival kicks off Friday, October 3, and continues through Saturday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day at St. James Armenian Church, 834 Pepper Avenue at the corner of Patterson and Pepper avenues.

St. James is the only Armenian church in Virginia, and since the festival’s start as a bake sale more than six decades ago, it has become one of Richmond’s longest-running food traditions.

Visitors can expect a menu of classic Armenian dishes prepared by church members, including shish kabobs, cheese boreg, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, handmade pastries, and the locally famous Hye Burger — created at St. James. New items are also on the menu this year. Armenian beer and wine will be available.

Live entertainment includes traditional Armenian youth dance performances and music by Hooshere and the VA Roonks. Festivalgoers can also tour the church and browse a gift shop featuring items sourced directly from Armenia.

Admission is free, with food and beverages available for purchase. Proceeds from the event support charitable causes.
