The Richmond Police Mounted Unit, along with the Friends of Richmond Mounted, Friends of Richmond K-9, and Richmond Animal Care and Control, will host a community Blessing of the Animals event this Friday, October 3, at Northside Dog Park, located at 500 Forest Lawn Drive. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the gathering, the Richmond Police Department Chaplain will bless all animals in attendance, including working horses, K-9 officers, and neighborhood pets. The event is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to bring their own pets to receive a blessing.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet the Richmond Police Mounted Unit, greet K-9 officers, and show support for the officers and animals that serve the community. Organizers note the event is designed to celebrate both working animals and the pets that bring joy to families across the city.

The Richmond Police Department is inviting community members and media to attend.
