Find your event: Richmond celebrates National Night Out with citywide events August 5th

The Richmond Police Department will host National Night Out events across the city on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, encouraging residents to come together for an evening focused on community building and crime prevention.

National Night Out (NNO) is a national initiative designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. The Richmond Police Department will take part in numerous gatherings citywide, offering opportunities for residents of all ages to engage with local officers and each other in a positive, welcoming atmosphere.

“When neighbors come together, they build the kind of trust and connection that helps prevent crime before it starts,” said Captain Daniel Minton of RPD’s Community Care Unit. “These events are a chance to get to know your precinct officers, meet your neighbors, and enjoy a safe, positive atmosphere.”

Richmond’s NNO celebrations will include block parties, cookouts, games, music, and activities for kids, with each location bringing its own unique spin to the evening. A full list of registered National Night Out events is expected to be available through the city.

To highlight the spirit of community, residents are encouraged to share photos and videos from their local gatherings using the hashtag #RVANightOut2025 on social media.
