The Byrd Theatre Foundation announced it has received a donation of $315,000 from Martin Davenport, Chairman of The Foundation’s Board of Directors. Davenport has been crucial to helping the Theatre thrive for over ten years.

“I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact [The Byrd Theatre] has had on children and adults alike. From my own childhood memories to the stories shared by our patrons, it’s clear that The Byrd continues to be a place where inspiration, motivation, and entertainment thrive.” – Martin Davenport
One hundred percent of this generous gift goes towards The Byrd Theatre Foundation’s replacement of the balcony seats, a part of the Pull Up a Seat campaign. This campaign includes replacing the balcony seats, replacing the seats on stage left and stage right of the auditorium, and constructing two additional ADA-accessible platforms for expanded accessibility. This project is a continuation of the 2017 work that replaced the center section of the auditorium.”The projected fundraising goal for this project is $660,000, with the first phase completed in early 2025. The Byrd Theatre is excited to have strong momentum toward achieving this goal thanks to its loyal patrons, including Martin Davenport,” the organization said in a release.

The Byrd Theatre Foundation is over three-quarters of the way to reaching its fundraising goal. With only $160,000 left to fundraise, the theatre looks to patrons to complete this project.
