Virginia Pride has announced its headlining acts for VA Pridefest 2024 presented by OutRVA on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Crystal Waters, Robin S and Tank and the Bangas are just some of the national and local acts that will perform during the Commonwealth’s largest LGBTQ festival at the Bon Secours Training Center in Richmond.
“We can’t wait to see the community singing, dancing and celebrating pride alongside this year’s incredible lineup of entertainment,” said Marquis Mapp, Virginia Pride chair. “We’ve got something for everyone this year. Pride is so powerful and it will be radiating from Richmond this September.”
Tank and the Bangas won the 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Concert and were nominated for Best New Artist in the 2020 Grammy Awards. The group mixes funk, soul, hip hop, rock and spoken word and has released three studio albums.
Waters is known for 1990s hits “100% Pure Love” and “Gypsy Love,” and Robin S. topped charts with songs like “Show Me Love and “Luv 4 Luv.”
Taking place from noon-8 p.m., Pridefest 2024 will include a day full of performances, in addition to a vendor market with more than 130 vendors and the Allianz Youth Pride Pavilion featuring family-friendly activities.
RuPaul’s Drag Race alums Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Kennedy Davenport will perform during the event as well.
A lineup of local talent takes the stage during the afternoon, featuring Mr., Miss. and Mx. VA Pride and several Richmond-based drag entertainers. Singer-songwriter and guitarist Landon Elliott
and dance-pop artist Bryce Bowen will also play songs.
Sign language interpreters will translate music for attendees who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
“We’re thrilled to return to the Bon Secours Training Center for a second year,” said James Millner, Virginia Pride director. “Our team is thankful for this year’s many sponsors and vendors who help make Pridefest 2024 possible. Together, we’re creating an inclusive and joyful event that uplifts and centers the LGBTQ community.”
Pridefest 2024 is presented by Richmond Region Tourism’s OutRVA program that markets the region to LGBTQ visitors. Additional sponsors include Capital One, Dominion Energy, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Allianz, Virginia Lottery, Bank of America and Massey Cancer Center.
Virginia Pride is a program of Diversity Richmond, which is celebrating its 25th year as the hub of Richmond’s LGBTQ community.
