Richmond-area Verizon Wireless Retailers Giving Away Backpack on Sunday

In an effort to ease the financial burden for families heading into another school year, Richmond-area Verizon Wireless retail locations will be giving away hundreds of FREE backpacks on Sunday, July 28 at 1 p.m.

With 42% of U.S. parents saying they will go into debt to pay for their child(ren)’s back-to-school items, there has never been a greater need to provide additional support and resources.

Verizon-authorized retailer, Round Room, is hosting its 12^th Annual “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway” event where hundreds of families are expected to line up to receive a free backpack.

In total, Round Room will be giving over $3M worth of backpacks to children at over 1,000 of its stores nationwide.

With backpacks being a higher ticket item on the school supplies list and the average cost of supplies for families being around $890, Round Room hopes to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with back-to-school season for the local families they serve.

Any leftover backpacks at “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway” events will be donated to local schools of each store’s choice.

Since the event’s inception, Round Room has been able to provide more than 1.3 million children with a backpack.
