Applications are sought from persons interested in serving as members of the newly established Richmond Civilian Board, as per city code.

Members of this eight-person Board will serve three-year terms. They will play a vital role in reviewing, investigating, and making recommendations to Richmond City Council, the Mayor, and the Chief of Police on specific internal Richmond Police Department investigations. This work will directly help to ensure accuracy, completeness, and impartiality in an effort to enhance trust and collaboration between law enforcement and the community.

Applicants should:

  • Be residents of the City of Richmond,
  • Not currently or previously held a position as a law enforcement officer,
  • Not have family or household members in a position of law enforcement,
  • Not be in pending litigation with the City of Richmond, and
  • Have a dedication to justice, fairness, and community engagement.

All persons interested in serving on this important board are invited and encouraged to submit their application by Friday, August 30, 2024; 5:00 p.m. (previous date was August 29, 2024).

To apply, interested persons are invited to visit the Richmond Office of City Clerk website, here, and complete the online application form.
