Up Next: Season is Over

Weather Forecast From WeatherBug.com

Three Things to Kick About

  1. Success – The Ivy will finish in the middle of the pack in their 8 team division. Which at first glance doesn’t seem like a success. However, the team ignited a passion in the local sports scene I haven’t seen. Every home game has seen over 4,000 fans out to support a pre-professional team of women athletes. This hasn’t been just young children forcing their parents to take them to the game but it’s been a diverse cross-section of Richmond. It’s a joy to see and hope it continues next season.
  2. On a Roll – Last time the Ivy played they easily beat the top team in the division Eagle FC. Now they face the #2 team in the league. If the Ivy play as they did against the Eagles this will be another nice win and a wonderful way to cap the season.
  3. What’s Next – Most (all?) of the Ivy players will head off to their respective colleges. Since this is the first season of the Ivy I can’t commit on how many we can expect to return. I assume that any that are eligible will be invited back but that remains to be seen. If you’d like to continue to support pre-professional women’s soccer there are two strong programs here in town with UofR’s Spiders and the VCU Rams. VCU’s Fall Schedule/UofR’s Fall Schedule

Prediction

I’m still drunk off the last win so based on nothing other than knowing that the Ivy are awesome, they’re playing at home, and it’s the last game it’s going to be another Ivy win.

Ivy – 3
Inferno – 1
