A wide-ranging lineup of musicians will headline a free hometown celebration of the Richmond Region on Friday, August 2, in Shockoe Bottom.

The organizers of 804 Day: Richmond’s Biggest Block Party have announced Richmond hip-hop artist Nickelus F as the event’s headliner. More than 15 bands will play across three stages, covering genres such as pop, rock, R&B, jazz, folk, and country.

Last year’s inaugural event drew 5,000 people to the 17th Street Market.

“Richmond is full of music lovers, and our indie talent is the heart and soul of 804 Day,” says event spokeswoman Reese Williams of Shockoe Records. “In curating our music lineup, our goal is to bring together some of the best talent that reflects our region’s vibrant culture and community spirit.”

A VCU graduate, he’s made a profound impact on the genre with a Billboard-charting album, nationwide tours, and contributions to the Richmond hip-hop scene. Nickelus F recently released a new album, “MMCHT,” and launched his record label, Trick Dice Records.

In addition to the musical performances, attendees can enjoy a variety of offerings from 40 local vendors, artists, and 20 nonprofits. A Kids’ Zone will provide activities for younger attendees, and local performing arts organizations will serve as emcees to keep the energy high throughout the event.

This year, a new VIP area will offer an exclusive experience with a private performance by The Sugar Hollows, a dedicated bar, exclusive food, private access, restrooms, and 804 Day merchandise. Limited tickets are available for $80.40.
