A new sports bar, restaurant, and sports card shop are coming to Scott’s Addition. The dual concept, Graybo’s Sports Cards and Parlay Bar & Lounge, is the brainchild of local developer Duke Dodson of Dodson Companies. The Grand Opening celebration is slated for Saturday, May 18, from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. The event will include food, drink, live sports card breaks, live music by DJ Elliott, influencer and special guest appearances, a viewing of the Preakness Stakes, and more. The parking lot will be closed to foster the ultimate party atmosphere. Entrance is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Parlay Bar & Lounge is an elevated sports bar experience. Designed with sports enthusiasts in mind, the venue will easily become the new go-to spot to catch the game. With an expertly crafted food and drink menu, pristine high-definition TVs, putting green, and comfortable lounge seating, fans will be able to get the electric game-day atmosphere without having to be at the game. In addition, guests can reserve 5 semi-private pods of varying sizes in advance to elevate their sports-viewing experience. Perfect for a group of fans or a fantasy football draft, each pod has up to 4 dedicated
televisions and plush seating.

Parlay is under the direction and partnership of Executive Chef Robyn Carter and Restaurateur Kelsey Biser, who bring 50 years of combined restaurant experience. This is the duo’s third restaurant opening this year, following the tremendous success of their dual restaurant concept, Drift Seafood + Bar and
Muse Pizzeria & Arcade opened on the waterfront in downtown Colonial Beach.

Along with Carter and Biser, the restaurant will have Chef de Cuisine Amy Terrill and Front of House Manager Adam Pitts. Pitts brings more than 15 years of hospitality experience. When asked about why he wanted to join the Parlay team, he said, “Enhancing the sports bar experience while co-mingling with
collectibles is an opportunity that aligns with my passions. There is nothing more exciting than a live event, such as a sporting event, to bring a community together, and that’s what we’re bringing to Parlay.”

The menu features favorite gameday fare, including wings, bar snacks, and sandwiches. Salads and pizzas are also available. Expect an extensive wine and draft list and an elevated cocktail program. An homage to her love of sports and her mentors, Carter says of creating the menu:     “When creating my menus, I always show respect or give a shout out to the chefs I have worked under in all the different places I’ve lived and worked. The menu is a collection of stadium favorites enjoyed while watching your favorite sports team.”

Graybo’s Sports Cards opened on W. Grace St. in January 2023 by owners Duke Dodson, Ryan Fitz, and Gray “Graybo” Burnette. All three are avid fans of sports, sports betting, and fantasy sports. In addition, all three were collectors of sports cards as kids. When the three of them caught wind of the industry
Making a comeback, the group dove at full speed to create Graybo’s.

The brand has seen significant growth over the past 12 months and has become a major player in the hobby, both locally and nationally. It has expanded its presence from a brick-and-mortar storefront to include online retail, an eBay shop, live online breaks on Fanatics Live, a weekly podcast, and touring at
local and national card shows. Its biggest wins include making it onto the Fanatics Live platform as one of its preferred shops and achieving allocation with both Topps and Panini America. One of the owners, Ryan Fitz, says, “Richmond has an active and growing group of collectible hobbyists. Whether it’s people just getting into the hobby, seasoned collectors, breakers, flippers, or investors, there is a place for everyone. We’re excited to see continued growth in Richmond and beyond.”

The new shop has an expanded footprint of 2,200 sq. ft. compared to the former 550 sq. ft. location. The group anticipates more foot traffic from the neighborhood and the added benefit of event space to host its podcast and live breaks in-house, as well as card shows, industry trade nights, birthday parties, little league teams, and more. “Combining a sports card shop with a sports bar where customers can opt-in to live breaks going on next door and watch them throughout the restaurant is something you don’t see anywhere else,” says Gray “Graybo” Burnette. “Customers will get that electric, gameday feel no matter which side of the building they’re in.”

The Scott’s Addition property was acquired in 2023 by Dodson Development Group (DDG) and redeveloped to house its company headquarters and Graybo’s Sports Cards and Parlay Bar & Lounge. This is DDG’s fourth project in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood after completing The Nest
Apartments (a six-story, 118-unit apartment project) a few blocks down at 3113 W. Marshall St. in 2020.
