Mayor Levar Stoney Drops Out of Governor’s Race Joins Lt. Governor Race

We won’t be saying Governor Stoney any time soon.

Mayor Stoney relased a statement that said in part.

“After careful consideration with my family, I believe that the best way to ensure that all Virginia families do get the change they deserve is for our party to come together, avoid a costly and damaging primary and, for me to run instead for Lieutenant Governor,”

In January polling from the Wason Center for Civic Leadership at Christopher Newport University found 52% of Democrats back Spanberger, 8% support Stoney and 40% are unsure. Currently there is no announced Republican candidate for Lt. Governor.
