The Sentara Cap2Cap, presented by Dominion Energy, one of the region’s most anticipated cycling events, celebrates its 19th year on May 10 and 11, 2024. This unique experience unfolds along the scenic Virginia Capital Trail, a paved trail stretching from Williamsburg to Richmond, taking participants through 400 years of history. Providing a landscape of rich farmlands, forest canopies, and stunning river views, this year’s ride offers an unforgettable experience and shared community like no other.

The family-friendly event includes a fully supported course, furnished rest stops, and distance options ranging from a 10–mile fun ride to 100+ miles, perfect for any age or fitness level. Notable features include customizable routes, a flexible open-start format, SAG and tech support, restroom facilities, sample ride itineraries, and on-site packet pick-ups. Cyclists can look forward to a special VIP experience featuring a party and vendor fair at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in James City County on Friday, May 10, and at Dorey Park in Henrico County on Saturday, May 11. Festivities include a lively community celebration, DJ, local artisans, and the vibrant Cap2Cap community. Other perks include an event shirt, delicious lunch, cold beverage, ride bib, and cool SWAG gift bag.

Cat Anthony, Executive Director of the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, shares her excitement, “Collaborating with Sentara Healthcare, Dominion Energy, and our valued partners, we take pride in crafting an exceptional journey for our riders. This event not only highlights the splendor of the Virginia Capital Trail but also unites our entire community in a truly special way.”

New for this year are team competitions with prizes, a stylish new jersey design, and the first-ever Cap2Cap tech tee. Returning favorites include specialty rest stops (featuring Ukrop’s cookies, Pickle Juice, & Breez-In potato wedges), the 2-day challenge, and a shuttle option for the half-century ride. Ride segments feature the aes Century, Half Century, Allianz Quarter Century, aes Family Fun Ride, Redmond Asset Management 2-Day Challenge, or the TowneBank Virtual Ride.
