In a word, bleck.

Three Things to Kickabout

  1. Basement Battle – As mentioned the Kickers haven’t won in 15 games but their best chance to break that streak is facing the only team in the league that has a worse record. The Kickers have 1 more win than Central Valley but 6 more draws. The good news is that even if the Kicker lose the game they won’t drop any lower in the standings. In fact, a win and other results go the right way the team could jump from 11th to 9th. That jump is evidence of how tight this league is in the middle of the table. We won’t talk about the top three that have run away from the pack.
  2. Cookie Time – In one of the most interesting timed jersey releases the Kickers decided that during the final game of a disastrous season to release another jersey. The jersey is a full-on rainbow cookie jersey which will have many fans. I’m not one of them but as I said I’m sure we’ll see a ton of them in the stands next season. You can grab one here.
  3. Timing – Speaking of weird marketing decisions. The league and the Kickers decided that the final game should be on the same day as the Richmond Folk Festival. The Richmond Folk Festival is favorite of Richmond, last year drawing around 250,000 over three days. Making people such as myself pick between the two was a tough decision. Ironically the losing season is my main reason for picking the game over the festival. If we were going to be in the playoffs I would have skipped this game since I would’ve seen them play again. Since this is truly the last game I decided to be at City Stadium. If the rain is heavy and we lose I will have regrets. That being said this league has ton of turnover it’s the fans final chance to see some of these players in Kickers Red.

Prediction

We win. We have to win. The team we’re playing is straight-up bad. If I’m going to stand in the rain for the last game in a season where we are 33 points out of first place after finishing first last year we need to win. No analysis just blind hope and faith, we will win.

Kickers 3
