Spotted on Richmond Audubon on Facebook while sitting.

Join Richmond Audubon as we attempt to tally as many species as possible from a stationary location while we SIT! The Big Sit will see teams across the country “competing” as they attempt to record as many species as they can from a fixed location in one day. This is RAS’ 7th year participating and last year we set a new high total with 64 species at Bryan Park (that is going to be hard to beat!)

Anyone interested in helping with the count is welcome, just bring a chair, snacks, and your optics (including scopes) and hang out for a while. Counters will be out there from sunrise to sunset. For more information contact Ellison Orcutt at [email protected]. Parking is available on S. 2nd St near Browns Island Way and in the Belle Isle parking lot. There is a port-a-john at the Belle Isle parking lot.

A bird for reference.
