Local grocer Ellwood Thompson’s sold to Florida-based company
The purchaser, Healthier Choices Management Corp., owns 15 grocery stores and claims shoppers won’t notice any major changes.

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:
Ellwood Thompson’s, a Richmond grocer known for its organic and local products, has been sold to a Florida-based company that owns health-focused grocery stores.
Ellwood Thompson’s owner Rick Hood said he’s ready to retire. The buyer, who did not disclose the price, said customers will not notice a difference — the brand and local products will remain.
The store was purchased by Healthier Choices Management Corp., which owns 15 grocery stores, including three Paradise Health & Nutrition locations in Florida and eight Green’s Natural Food stores in New York and New Jersey. The sale closed Sunday.
