We continue the tradition of offering a special, limited-edition brew for the Richmond Folk Festival. This year’s edition has been specially brewed by Hardywood Park Brewing Hardywood officially began its mission to brew with purpose in late 2011 as one of only two craft breweries in the city of Richmond. The craft beer market has changed a lot since they first opened their doors, but Hardywood and its two locations are much loved by the community and a regular destination for beer aficionados from all over!

Hardywood Folk Festbier (5.4% ABV) is brewed in collaboration with the Richmond Folk Festival and pays homage to the modern-day German-style Oktoberfest celebration beer. Brewed with Munich and Vienna malts, this lager beer promotes a full body and malt roundness that is balanced with moderate bitterness from traditional German Tettnang and Spalt hops. Clean and crisp, Hardywood Folk Festbier works in concert with any genre of music!

This wonderful brew will be debuted at a special tasting event Thursday, September 28 starting at 6:30pm at Hardywood’s West Creek location. We’ll be clapping and stomping along with Corey Wells and the Hitchhikers and sharing a can or two of our Festival release featuring this year’s amazing poster art by Chris Visions!

About Corey Wells and the Hitchhikers: Classic country twang with a modern twist. From Bakersfield to the Blue Ridge, Corey Wells and the Hitchhikers draw inspiration from California country rock and mid-western honky tonk from the 60s and 70s to newer Nashville sounds of the 80s and 90s and beyond.

Hardywood Folk Festbier will be available at the festival itself and also in 4-packs at these Richmond Kroger locations starting Thursday, September 28.
