Artspace announces its 8th Annual Fine Art Auction to be held in-person and online! Artwork will be on view and open to the public from September 22-30, at Artspace and Boyd Realty Group, both located in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center. An opening reception will take place on Friday, September 22, 6pm-9pm. This event is free and open to the public. A ticketed Gala Event will take place on the closing night of the fundraiser at Boyd Realty Group, September 30, 6-9pm.

We are grateful and honored to have Francis Thompson, Art Program Manager for JLL, providing his services as this year’s Curator for the Silent Auction artwork. Over the past seventeen years, Francis has managed a team responsible for maintaining and expanding a contemporary corporate art collection installed within office buildings throughout North America.

Francis has worked as Assistant Gallery Director for the Ellipse Art Center in Arlington, VA, Assistant Coordinator for the Mountain Lake Workshop with director/producer Ray Kass, Office Assistant for the Cunningham Dance Foundation and as Gallery Coordinator for the Virginia Tech Armory Gallery. A native of Virginia, he holds a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a concentration in painting and drawing from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA.

This year’s fundraiser provides a selection of art chosen especially by Francis Thompson for our Silent Auction which will be on view in Artspace’s Main Gallery.

Silent Auction Curated by Francis Thompson features artwork by Andras J Bality, Betsy Bannan, Gerry Bannan, Sukenya Best, Franchell Mack Brown, Elizabeth Coffey, Tom Condon, Steven B Glass, Reni Gower, John Henley, Kris Iden, Sarah Irvin, Susan Iverson, Blythe King, Emma Knight, Jonathan Lee, Amie Oliver, Simone Paterson, Louis Poole, Diego Sanchez and Mary Scurlock.

In the Elisabeth Flynn-Chapman Gallery, our $50 Room will provide a large selection of artwork priced at $50 each which is available for immediate purchase. For the 8th year, as an extra feature in its annual art auction, Artspace offers the rare chance to take home original art for $50. Hundreds of small artworks will line the walls in our Elisabeth Flynn-Chapman Gallery. Part of Artspace’s mission is to make art accessible to all. We are excited to offer our popular $50 cash & carry exhibition, the $50 Room. These desirable and affordable gems are donated by local and regional artists and are available for immediate purchase throughout the week-long exhibition – available in the gallery only.

Supporting Ensemble: Artspace Members’ Satellite Show: Prepare to be captivated by an exceptional display of creativity at our exclusive satellite exhibition space, graciously hosted by Boyd Realty Group.

The grand unveiling of these artworks will take place on Fourth Friday, September 22, at the stroke of 6:00pm. It’s a race against time, as these remarkable pieces will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our esteemed Artist Members have curated signature artworks, each valued at less than $400. Additionally, they’ve handpicked highly desirable pieces, sure to pique the interest of collectors, enthusiasts, and connoisseurs. They’re extending an exclusive invitation to you and your circle of friends, inviting you to witness and acquire these artistic treasures.

Tickets priced at $25 are required to bid on the Silent Auction artwork or to purchase artwork from the $50 Room and the Members’ Exhibit at Boyd Realty Group. Tickets include entry to the Gala Event which features two free drinks, food, live music and a costume party, Catering for the Gala Event will be provided by Natalie’s Restaurant.

The Full Moon Cabaret Gala Event, features musical entertainment by Professor Bless’ Blue Orpheus Cabaret, your Lunar Cabaret Fantasy Fulfilled with a costume contest, and complimentary drinks and appetizers, all taking place as the Silent Auction ends.

Following the opening preview, the exhibition is open Tuesday-Sunday, noon-4:00pm through September 30. Online bidding is open from 6:00pm on Friday, September 22 to 8:00pm on Saturday, September 30.
The Silent Auction and $50 Room will be on view and open to the public at our new gallery space in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center. An Artspace Members’ Show will be held at the Gala Locations in Boyd Realty at the Stratford Hills Shopping Center.
