Blue Ridge Cyclery rolls into Libbie Mill development
Bike shop expands regional footprint, adding to growing retail service offerings at Libbie Mill.

Libbie Mill – Midtown, owned and operated by Henrico-based Gumenick Properties, announced last week that Blue Ridge Cyclery has leased approximately 4,208 square feet in retail suite 100 of the Penstock Quarter building located at 5001 Libbie Mill East Boulevard.
Blue Ridge Cyclery’s expansion into the local market illustrates continued demand for high-quality commercial real estate at Libbie Mill and adds a unique and invaluable retail service experience to the growing community. The bicycle shop plans to begin work on this space in the near future.
While their new, permanent space is being built, Blue Ridge Cyclery will open in a temporary location in the 2,717 square foot Suite 165 of the Penstock Quarter Building, adjacent to [solidcore] and Capital Eye Care. Opening their Libbie Mill store location in this temporary space will allow Blue Ridge Cyclery to officially join the community in a limited capacity much sooner.
Harrison Hall and Peter Vick of Colliers International represented Libbie Mill – Midtown and Blue Ridge Cyclery in the transaction.
Blue Ridge Cyclery is an independently owned bicycle shop founded in 2010, and currently operates store locations in Charlottesville and northern Virginia.
“We are excited to join the Richmond cycling scene with our new location at Libbie Mill. The combination of retail and residential in a single community setting fits the BRC model well,” states Shawn Tevendale, owner and founder of Blue Ridge Cyclery. The company’s newest store in Libbie Mill – Midtown will be its fourth location in the state.
Blue Ridge Cyclery is an official Trek dealer, specializing in the sale of Trek and Electra bicycles, among other makes and models regularly stocked in its stores. The shops also provide bicycle repair and maintenance services, cycling gear, as well as coordinate community bicycle rides and other events.
“We are very excited to welcome Blue Ridge Cyclery as the latest business in our growing list of retail services at Libbie Mill – Midtown,” states Diane Tidwell, Gumenick Properties’ director of property management for Virginia. “Demand for commercial space in the community remains robust, and we are looking forward to identifying the right businesses to fill the approximately 8,000 square feet of retail remaining.”
This newest lease comes on the heels of a strong year for Libbie Mill – Midtown, in which it welcomed All-Star Orthodontics, Athletico Physical Therapy, and River Run Dental. Restaurants ACACIA midtown and Brass Tap Craft Beer Bar also found their new homes at Libbie Mill and are both poised to open in the coming weeks.
There also continues to be strong demand for new-construction townhomes and condominiums at The Neighborhood at Libbie Mill, with the pre-sale and construction of a new phase to begin soon.
