Photos: Tiny RVA

These style photos are commonly referred to as tilt-shift photography but as someone said on our Instagram, RVA in HO scale.

All these image were made in camera with a TTartisan 50mm lens. If you’d like to deep dive into why and how your eyes are fooled you can read this Wikipedia article on the Scheimpflug principle but in the most simple terms the lens tilts so that it is no longer parallel to the camera’s image sensor, it shifts the plane of focus and alters the depth of field.

Yes you can achieve the same effect to a degree with Photoshop or apps on your smarty phone.
