Torchy’s Tacos hosting grand opening of new Short Pump location today

Torchy’s is kicking off grand opening day on January 11th by offering the first 100 guests in line at 10 a.m. on opening day a limited-edition Torchy’s Restaurant Opening T-Shirt, which will grant the lucky Taco Junkie a year of free Green Chile Queso each time they wear it to the Short Pump location.

Torchy’s Tacos, the popular Austin-based craft-casual brand known for its “Damn Good Tacos and addictive Green Chile Queso” according to its news release, is growing in Virginia with the opening of its newest restaurant on Wednesday, January 11th at 11120 West Broad Street, Suite A in Short Pump. This new location joins Torchy’s Charlottesville as the company’s second restaurant in Virginia, with an additional location in Carytown Exchange planned for February 2023.

Torchy’s is kicking off grand opening day on January 11th by offering the first 100 guests in line at 10 a.m. on opening day a limited-edition Torchy’s Restaurant Opening T-Shirt, which will grant the lucky Taco Junkie a year of free Green Chile Queso each time they wear it to the Short Pump location.

The Short Pump location boasts a 4,020-square foot dining room coupled with an outdoor patio, where guests can enjoy options like the Baja Shrimp taco, plant-based Mofaux taco and Torchy’s Taco of the Month while sipping fresh-made margaritas and signature cocktails. The company says every taco, queso and margarita is made-to-order.

Highlights from the Short Pump location include, per the press release:

  • Damn Good Tacos: Torchy’s inventive taco creations served on fresh, housemade corn or flour tortillas like Green Chile Pork featuring pork carnitas, green chiles and cotija cheese, MoFaux made with plant-based, cowboy-style Beyond Beef, the famous Trailer Park inspired by Torchy’s beginnings in an Austin food trailer with fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheddar jack cheese (or make it “trashy” by removing the lettuce and adding Green Chile Queso) and many more

  • Breakfast Tacos: Served all day long, with options like The Wrangler made with cage-free eggs, smoked beef brisket, potato, cheese and tomatillo sauce,Migas made with cage-free eggs, corn tortilla strips, green chiles, avocado, pico de gallo and cheese, and more

  • Taco of the Month: Torchy’s ever-changing monthly promotion of unique and mouth-watering tacos that keep Taco Junkies guessing and relishing year-round, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Torchy’s charitable partners including the Make-a-Wish Foundation, MD Anderson, and Phoenix House

  • Flavorful Sides: Including Green Chile Queso + Chips, Juan’s Refried Beans,Street Corn and fresh-made guacamole and salsa

  • Freshly Squeezed, Hand-shaken Margaritas and Local Brews: Happy hour runs Monday-Friday from 3-6 p.m. for dining in, with drink specials including $1.50 off draft and bottled beer and $2 off Damn Good Drinks

The restaurant’s hours of operation are:

  • Sunday: 9AM – 9PM
  • Mon-Thu: 10AM – 10PM
  • Friday: 10AM – 11PM
  • Saturday: 9AM – 11PM

Fast casual chain Taziki’s Mediterranean Café will honor 10 years of serving its Mediterranean fare with the Richmond community on Tuesday, May 23rd.

Taziki’s Innsbrook, Chesterfield, and Midlothian restaurants will offer $5 Grilled Chicken or Grilled Veggie Gyro meals all day on May 23 to dine-in guests.

“We are grateful to the Richmond community for these 10 wonderful years,” said operator Jona Ford. “Residents have welcomed us with open arms, and we plan to continue serving our fun, modern Mediterranean fare to the people we love for at least another 10.”

As a brand, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café is also celebrating 25 years.

Island Shrimp Co. at Rockett’s Landing is set to host a rum tasting event on Saturday, May 27th at 2:30pm, featuring Brooklyn-based spirits author and educator Shannon Mustipher. The event will showcase a range of regional rum styles, with a welcome cocktail and eight sample selections for attendees to try. Tickets for the seminar are priced at $35 and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

Shannon Mustipher is an acclaimed author and founder of the Women Who Tiki pop-up. She has received a number of accolades for her work in the bar industry, including the Tales of the Cocktail Pioneer Award and induction into the Dame Hall of Fame. Most recently, she was named on the Bar World 100 list of the most influential people in the industry.

In addition to the rum tasting, Shannon will be signing copies of her book “Tiki: Modern Tropical Cocktails,” and will remain at the venue for a special happy hour from 4-6pm. The happy hour event is open to the public and will feature three cocktails from the book.

The Queen’s Library Tea Room provides guests with unique experiences, including a wide range of teas, baked goods from local bakeries, and other tasty treats. With classic English tea time favorites and more modern options to cater to all palates, the tearoom offers something for everyone.

The vintage-inspired interior of the tearoom features antique furnishings, Richmond furniture pieces, and delicate china, creating the perfect setting for a special occasion or a quiet moment of relaxation with loved ones.
