The Forest Hill Foraging and Plant Walk begins at 1 PM this Saturday.

Come out this weekend for a plant and foraging walk to get to know your leafy neighbors and feel more at home in both the city and the woods. Meeting place is at the Stone House.

Some things we will cover:

-Fall and Winter Edible Plants

-Common Herbs for Basic First Aid

-Basic Plant Parts and How They are Used in Identification

-Identifying Trees in Winter by Bark,Twigs, Buds and Leaf Scars

-Ethics, Mindsets and Next Steps in Forgaging

The walk will be led by Oliver, who has studied these topics for almost 10 years and done plant walks in multiple states. We will tie in information and stories from a wide range of fields including botany, farming, anthropology, history, bushcrafting and survival training. We will try to weave the threads together while avoiding some of the more nerdy, culty, or fear-based approaches to our relationship with nature and “survival.”

-Bring a notebook if you like but a full list of the plants, their uses and how they are identified will be provided after the class!

-There is a suggested donation of $10 but all are welcome.
