Kickers vs. Tormenta at City Stadium
June 4th, Gates 5 PM KO 6:30 PM, Tickets $10-$25

The Kickers just played on Wednesday and scored three goals in the first half. The second half wasn’t as exciting but I’m hoping for more of the same on Saturday.Plus they have a special deal for you and your pup.

The Richmond Kickers host South Georgia Tormenta FC and are celebrating Dog Days of Summer sponsored by Impawsible Pups. Visit them at ImpawsiblePups.com

We encourage all of our fans to bring their dogs to City Stadium for our June 4th game. We hope to fill the stadium with all of our furry friends for a fun-filled night. Impawsible Pups will have a dog play area set up inside the gates for your pups to have some fun.
Special Merchandise: We will be selling Kickers bandanas and dog collars at our merchandise trailer during the game.
Happy Hour Special: From 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. enjoy the $5 special on 16 oz Heineken!

Come watch the Kickers face off against South Georgia Tormenta FC for the first time this year. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to save $5 on matchday pricing and to ensure quick entrance into the stadium upon arrival. June 4th, 2-4 PM

Take a walk in Forest Hill Park and listen to the Richmond Symphony. Woodwinds in the wood.

Over the course of two hours, Mile of Music will have several performing groups from the Richmond Symphony set-up along an approximate 1-mile route within the beautiful Forest Hill Park. At this free event, you can take your time to enjoy some music and movement from 2-4pm!

Block Party at the Richmond SPCA
June 4th, 1-6 PM, Tickets are $8 before the event, $10 at the gate, and free for children 12 and under

I’m not a dog owner but I’m a big lover of the beasts and thankful for all the work that Richmond SPCA does on their behalf. If you are as well this is a great way to show your love and you’ll have a good time as well.

Twenty years ago, the Richmond SPCA boldly adopted a no-kill operating model and pledged to save the life of every healthy and treatably sick or injured homeless animal in our care. Saving thousands of lives while expanding our mission has been deeply rewarding work that we are eager to celebrate with our community. To that end, we invite animal lovers young and old to join us for a celebratory block party with a retro theme.

Hosted on the grounds of the Richmond SPCA, the day, presented by Moore Subaru will feature live music, beer/wine trucks, food trucks, special activities for animal lovers of all ages, and a variety of vendors in our pet-friendly marketplace. Join us for a fun celebration with a nostalgic vibe that takes you on a journey through time to remember the pop culture dominating your radio, CD player, television and closet 20 years ago.

Band line up:
P2: 1-2 p.m.
Paulo Franco & The Freightliners: 2:45-3:45 p.m.
Sold Separately: 4:30-5:45 p.m.

Barkitecture 2022 at Mainline Brewery
June 5th, 2-5PM, Free to Attend

Continuing with the I love dogs theme. Another dog focused event. I’m not ignoring cats, they’ll be there as well, I’m just showing them the same level of indifference that my own cat shows me.

Barkitecture is back!
Join the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers for a day of paws and pints and help us raise money for some animals in need!
Come by to see custom built dog houses, kitty condos and custom dog accessories designed by local creatives, designers and architects and vote for your favorite.
This ASID Virginia fundraiser brings the community together in support of our local designers and adoptable animals!
There will also be food trucks, face-painting, a pet photo booth, games and raffles! Fun for the whole family, including the fur-babies.
A percentage of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Richmond Animal Care and Control!

Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival at Rockett’s Landing
August 6th

I’ve always dreamed of riding the dragon. It’s not going to happen this year but at least I can watch the dragons be rowed. It’s too late to register a team but there will be plenty to watch.

Image: Richmond Dragon Boat Facebook

Regarded as the liveliest festival stop on the MLDB circuit, Richmond is always a high-energy whirlwind of community rivalry mixed with team spirit. Embraced by local community teams, many festival attendees get creative with colorful uniforms, memorable costumes, and zany tent displays in the Athletes’ Village.

Thanks to the city’s central location on the American East Coast, teams from across the eastern seaboard and beyond travel to join local crews for a fun day of dragon boat festivities on and off the water. Many out-of-towners extend their stay to discover the attractions that made Richmond one of Frommers’ Top Destinations for 2014, such as the Civil War Trails, white water rafting, local craft breweries, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, 17th Street Farmers’ Market, and the Edgar Allen Poe Museum.

Races take place on a 500m course with events for Mixed, Women’s, and Open teams. Local crews battle it out for the coveted Community Championship trophy.
