RACC and RPD looking for suspect that abandoned severely injured dog.

The dog was dropped off at 2:36 in the morning with temperatures at 19 degrees.

From Richmond Animal Care and Control

Welp, this story just went from bad to worse. 💔 Olympus wasn’t left out front @racc_shelter Sunday morning at 9:30am in the hopes that we would help him. Olympus was dumped at RACC at 2:36am (it was 19 degrees that night) and the video in the comments (warming/graphic/heartbreaking) shows this poor dog trying to follow this person and then collapses. The person (s) in this video footage knowingly left a very sick, emaciated dog in our parking lot in the freezing cold. 🤬 Video shows Olympus staggering/falling on our sidewalk for hours before he dragged himself behind our retaining wall out front. 😭 Somehow he managed not to freeze to death in the 7 hours he endured and pulled himself from his hiding spot to the sunshine at 9:30am when we found him. Our sadness has turned to anger and our team is actively working this investigation. If you have any information to share, if you know who this person is or recognize this car please PM here, DM @racc_shelter, email [email protected] or contact Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous. No information is insignificant-please contact us if you know anything that could help us hold this person(s) responsible for their inhumane actions. #weareyourcityshelter p.s. Olympus is doing better (waiting on more test results today) but he’s eating and up/walking and we will post a full update once we have a defined diagnosis.
