Thanks to John Murden for the summary of last night’s meeting.

There was a meeting this evening at Patrick Henry ES regarding the draft plan for changes to traffic patterns at Forest Hill/Semmes/34th.

Core to the plan is putting a stoplight at 34th and Semmes. To get enough traffic through that intersection to justify the cost of the stoplight, the block of Forest Hill behind WPA/Laura Lee’s etc will be made east-bound-only to force traffic up 34th to Semmes.

The current traffic light at Dundee/Semmes/Forest Hill will be removed, and a cross-on-demand style light and crosswalk will be placed in front of Crossroads. On-street parking behind the business will be converted angle parking, and Dundee & Forest Hill will be reconfigured to allow for east-bound traffic only.

Previous requests to make Semmes one-lane in front of the commercial strip and also in front of the school to allow for drop-off were described as not possible. It sounded like there are no plans at this time to extend the bike lane.

This plan is very similar to what was discussed in November of 2018. Sidenote it was John Murden giving us the summary back then as well. Thanks John.
