The Big Kitchen in Scott’s Addition discontinuing individual ordering to focus on catering business

The Big Kitchen, the gourmet drive-thru concept owned by Tazza Kitchen in Scott’s Addition, is discontinuing individual meal pickup and delivery services starting today, owners announced.

The Big Kitchen, the gourmet drive-thru concept owned by Tazza Kitchen in Scott’s Addition, is discontinuing individual meal pickup and delivery services starting today, owners announced. Instead, the business will focus on business catering orders, which has accounted for a significant amount of the business’s orders.

The Short Pump location, which recently opened, will remain in operation. No word was given on the reason for the changes other than a shift in focus.

Co-owner Suzanne Davenport sent out the following notice to customers:

We launched The Big Kitchen nearly eight months ago knowing this opening stretch would be an opportunity to experiment and learn. Now having enjoyed many successes and worked through a few challenges, and after carefully evaluating all facets of the business, we are making some significant changes, and we want you to be the first to know.

In May we received occasional requests from our regular customers to provide food for parties and events. This drop-off catering business started organically and slowly, but it is now growing rapidly and has become the largest part of The Big Kitchen with fantastic customer reviews. Moving forward, we are shifting our focus and resources to expanding our catering business.

In Scott’s Addition, we will no longer offer individually prepared meals through our retail storefront or online after September 11. However, we will continue offering individual prepared meals at our Short Pump location adjacent to Tazza Kitchen.

Catering deliveries are available on orders over $150 and within the 288/295/895 beltways. Pick up orders of any size are available at Scott’s Addition and Short Pump. Orders are prepared hot and ready to eat or cold for reheating later. You will see many of the same items, just in larger quantities. You can check out the catering menu and ordering details here.

Getting to know our wonderful customers has been a highlight, and we cannot thank you enough for the support as our business evolves. We have an incredible fan base and know that discontinuing the individual prepared meals in Scott’s Addition might be disappointing. We hope you will find our catering service equally valuable for office lunches, parties, and family gatherings.

If you have a gift promo code, you will hear from us about how to redeem that after September 12.

We have some fun things planned for our space here in Scott’s Addition, so stay tuned for updates on pop ups and creative events at The Big Kitchen.
