Much Loved Mekong Bartender Quy P. Pham Died this Weekend Competing in Triathalon

The Sunday triathlon took a tragic turn.

Quy P. Pham was a long-time bartender at Mekong restaurant. This Sunday Quy was competing in the Robious Landing Triathlon on the James River. During the swimming portion of the race, a volunteer heard cries for help.  Crews quickly responded but were unable to locate Quy until it was too late.

Mekong is ground central for much of the Richmond beer scene and Quy was well known throughout the community.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help the Pham family.

Quy was one of the most active youth leader at our church and was loved by many for his kind soul and humble spirit.  He joined  VEYM – Don Bosco Chapter as a youth leader in 1999 and immediately, he made an impact on all of the youths and leaders with his passion in serving others.  Quy was very supportive and proud to be a part of the DB family.

Nobody deserves this type of fate, especially not such a wonderful family. You are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers.

Rest in peace Quy!  You will be remembered by many, especially your beautiful wife and two innocent young children.
