They serve people with physical or cognitive disabilities, veterans, underserved youth, and those in substance recovery. A good article but I take issue with it being a best-kept secret. Every beer/wine lover I know has spent time exploring Nelson County and for good reason.

Wineries, Breweries and Beyond: A Drinker’s Guide to Nelson County, Virginia – WineEnthusiast

While heading from I-64 to Route 29 in Virginia or visiting one of the state’s ski resorts (yes, Virginia has ski resorts!), you may encounter bustling Virginia State Route 151, which runs through a small portion of Nelson County, Virginia. Though once a rural passthrough, it’s now home to one of Virginia’s best-kept secrets for drink lovers.

Veil unveils new flagship location.

New Flagship Scott’s Addition Taproom & Restaurant – Opening Spring 2023

We are thrilled to announce the opening of our brand new flagship taproom in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood of Richmond, VA. This new space, located at 1509 Belleville St., is just a few blocks away from our original taproom and production facility. Our new flagship location will feature an 8,262 sq ft taproom (3x the size of our current space in Scott’s Addition!), beer/wine/cider/spirits, an expansive patio, event space, gender-neutral restrooms, and a brand new in-house food concept, Nokoribi (@nokoribirva).

Nokoribi is the brainchild of Andrew Manning and Patrick Phelan, Chef/Owners from Scott’s Addition’s lauded tasting menu restaurant Longoven (@longovenrva). Nokoribi (Japanese for “embers”) will feature a Yakitori, Japanese pub inspired menu highlighting meats, chicken, and vegetables cooked live over charcoal, along with katsu sandwiches, kimchi fries, seasonal pickles, and more. Hyperfocus, high quality, affordable pricing, and approachability for the whole family are paramount to the Nokoribi team and us, and we look forward to sharing their vision with you all.

We currently are striving for a Spring 2023 opening. Due to much-needed additional production space, once this location is open, our Roseneath Rd. location will be closed to the public and this will be our only taproom & restaurant in Scott’s Addition. Stay tuned for more info regarding the grand opening celebration, as well as a final hurrah at our original taproom. Feel free to post any questions about this exciting new location in the comments below. Please share this post as much as you can and give Nokoribi a follow too.

Love and Cheers from all of us here at The Veil!

Richmond gets a bit of good press from San Diego Beer News. The news is a little old the article is from November but the descriptions of the local breweries is spot on. Plus there is a handy map to pass along to your visiting beerheads.

The Old Dominion’s capital city is a destination for craft-beer lovers seeking quality, quantity and variety – San Diego Beer News

Smack dab in the heart of Virginia lies a vivid brewing scene that’s among the East Coast’s finest and draws visitors from across the Old Dominion as well as neighboring states and the District of Columbia. But it wasn’t always that way in Richmond. Just over a decade ago, the city was home to only one brewery, but thanks to 2012 legislation allowing breweries to sell beer at their breweries, an ale-obsessed, boundary-pushing restauranteur and pioneers who jumped to the pro ranks from the James River Homebrewers club, RVA now boasts nearly 30 brewery-owned venues.
