The press release did point out that the brunch rollout is dependant on Hurricane Florence not being too vicious to Richmond.

Good news from Laura Lee’s for lovers of that magical meal that is neither lunch or breakfast. Starting this weekend you can wake up Saturday or Sunday and get a delicious meal and perhaps a cocktail before facing the day. I mean seriously look at that fried chicken platter above.

Starting this Saturday, September 15, Laura Lee’s will now be open for brunch on Saturday AND Sunday.

Laura Lee’s is open for dinner 7 nights a week from 4PM, and for brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am – 2pm.

The new menu (pdf here) includes the Serves Two Fried Chicken Platter with biscuits, hushpuppies, and sauces, Huevos Rancheros, Country Fried Pork, Fried Oatmeal, Steak ‘n’ Eggs and fries, and a good handfull of great brunch cocktails. There are also a number of really good vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free options.

Just come on by, or make a reservation by phone or online.

Laura Lee’s is an updated take on the American fern bar on Semmes Avenue in Southside Richmond. Our space is comfortable and lovely, with living walls, padded chairs and semi-circular booths, and a classic mirrored bar.

Over the holiday break two more restaurants announced their plans to close up until spring.

23rd & Main Kitchen and Taproom posted the following to Facebook.

Postbellum made a similar statement also on Facebook although you stated they hope to open in two months.

Postbellum will be going on a two month vacation in order to to give our staff a much needed period of rest, and to prepare for our spring service. —We hope to see you this weekend, as we are extending our happy hour from 3:30 – 8PM & offering delicious brunch/dinner specials. Otherwise, we will see you when we return on March 1st! Stay safe, RVA

Helen’s Closed Until 2021

Hopefully, the Fan institution will be back sooner rather than later.

Helen’s (2527 W Main Street) announced on Facebook and Reddit that they’re going to close up until 2021. The re-open date will be determined once we’re through this mess of a pandemic. They’ve been closed to indoor dining since March and just went back to takeout only about 2 weeks ago. Hit up that Reddit thread for more details.
