Warm temps and high humidity didn’t quell spirits as Virginia History and Culture Museum president Jamie Bosket welcomed the crowd by saying “thank you for coming on this delightfully brisk day.”

96 new citizens from over 40 different countries were sworn in by the honorable Roger L Gregory in front of a crowd that expanded to the median of the Boulevard and beyond. State Senator Donald McEachin gave the pledge of allegiance and soprano Lisa Edwards-Burrs sung the National Anthem.

After the 45 minute ceremony, the museum opened free to the public, reassuring the new citizens that they had just become part of Virginia history.
