Another water main break affecting traffic on I-95 in Downtown Richmond

As temperatures plummeted over the past week before rebounding beginning yesterday, Richmond’s infrastructure is starting to show some cracks–literally.

Another day, another water main break–and not far from the original.

Following a string of water main breaks that affected traffic on the Downtown Expressway and I-95 respectively, yet another pipe has burst, sending water flooding into Interstate 95 at mile marker 79–that’s at the Hermitage Road overpass.

The right and center lanes remain open in each direction; the left lanes in both travel directions are still closed pending a remedy for the flowing water.

We’ll continue to follow this story as new details emerge and monitor the traffic situation.
