Summer is in full swing, the heat is on full blast, and lots of folks are getting out of Dodge for a bit on summer vacations. The last thing you want on your mind during a fun trip is the security or your home or business, especially in the wake of a number of burglaries around the city in recent months, right?
Fortunately, a free service from the Richmond Police Department will give you a little peace of mind while you’re out of town, and you may have not even realized it existed.
The department offers a free “House and Business Watch Program,” which all city residents can request on an as-needed basis. Once the request is made, a Richmond Police officer will periodically check the perimeter of the requestor’s property and ensure its security. The service is available for your home or business, and each request covers up to a three-week period–you know, if you’re lucky enough to get out of town for that length of time.
“Our home and business vacation watch service is an excellent way to assist residents and business owners when they are away for an extended period of time,” said Community Care Captain Dan Minton. “This can help protect their property…and best of all, the peace of mind is free.”
So how does it work? Just visit this website and click on the link for the Vacation Watch Request Form. A map of each precinct is featured on the request form webpage to assist you and in determining your precinct, if you’re unsure which one your home or office is in.
