Fire, Flour & Fork is right around the corner, and an event in the Near West End this weekend is kicking things off. The Midtown State Fair returns this Sunday, July 16th to Libbie Mill.

Billed as a celebration of the untraditional, the event will feature some of the area’s best local food, family-friendly activities, and entertainment. Expect a farmer cook-off, a peach pie and cake contest, a pickle contest, even a human chicken impression contest–and more. There will also be a culinary words spelling bee for both kids and adults, as well as a bake walk and fresh produce sales.

It all takes place at Libbie Lake inside Libbie Mill Midtown, located at 4901 Libbie Mill East Boulevard (between Staples Mill Road and Libbie Avenue in the West End). The fun begins at 11:00 AM and runs through 4:00 PM. Admission is free.
