CAVA, a restaurant best described by local food blogger Meg Irvin (whose review is linked below) as a Mediterranean Chipotle–featuring salads, grain bowls, pita, and more–is expanding in the Richmond area, and will open their second location, this one in Short Pump. The chain’s original Richmond location is on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus.
The Short Pump CAVA, which is located in the former Applebee’s at 11780 W. Broad Street in front of Short Pump Town Center, will host a grand opening event tonight, Thursday, July 13th from 5:30 until 7:30 PM.
Dinner is on the house, along with beer from Hardywood, baked goods from Whisk, and live music from Red Light Rodeo.
Proceeds and any donations will benefit Tricycle Gardens.
As summarized by Let’s Share A Dish blogger Meg Irvin:
If you aren’t familiar with CAVA, the easiest way to describe the growing chain is a Mediterranean version of Chipotle — you start at the beginning of the line and decide what kind of meal you want and then the customization begins and it keeps going for a good long while. There is not a lack of options when eating here, you’ll definitely be able to find something that’s just right for you! If you don’t know CAVA yet, you’re probably going to know it soon – this time last year Richmond didn’t have a single CAVA location, and by the end of the year we’ll have three. We weren’t lying when we said they were growing!
